Chain Of Love

The other day I was on my way to work when a song came on the radio. It sounded like an older song, and I couldn't believe I had never heard it before. But the lyrics were so cute and it kept me waiting in the parking lot until the song was over. I had tears in my eyes by the end of the song! Either it's just THAT good, or I'm just a girl who is emotional..... whatever. But either way, it's such a cute song.

The lyrics really caught my attention. I was expecting this to be a typical Love song. A boy finds a girl, they fall in love, happily ever after. And I was surprised at the ending :) Here are the lyrics!

"He was driving home one evening,
In his beat up Pontiac.
When an old Lady flagged him down,
Her mercedes had a flat.
He could see that she was frightened,
Standing out there in the snow
'Till he said I'm here to help you ma'am,
By the way, my name is Joe.

She said I'm from St. Louis,
And I'm only passing through
I must have seen a hundred cars go by,
This is awful nice of you.
When he changed the tire,
And closed her trunk
And was about to drive away,
She said how much do I owe you
Here's what he had to say.

You don't owe me a thing, I've been there too
Someone once helped me out,
Just the way I'm helping you.
If you really want to pay me back,
Here's what you do
Don't let the chain of love end with you.

Well a few miles down the road
The lady saw a small cafe.
She went in to grab a bite to eat,
And then be on her way.
But she couldn't help but notice,
How the waitress smiled so sweet
And how she must've been eight months along,
And dead on her feet.

And though she didn't know her story,
And she probably never will
When the waitress went to get her change,
From a hundred dollar bill
The lady slipped right out the door,
And on a napkin left a note
There were tears in the waitress's eyes,
When she read what she wrote.

You don't owe me a thing, I've been there too
Someone once helped me out
Just the way I'm helping you.
If you really want to pay me back
Here's what you do
Don't let the chain of love end with you.

That night when she got home from work,
The waitress climbed into bed
She was thinkin' about the money,
And what the lady's note had said.
As her husband lay there sleeping,
She whispered soft and low,
Everything's gonna be alright, I love you, Joe."

Ok...... If those Lyrics don't make you want to be a better person, then I don't know what does! Imagine what it would be like if the whole world were that way. I don't know about you, but that makes me want to go do something nice for someone!

Just a cute little reminder to myself! Have a great day! =)

DAY 05

DAY 05- My Definition of Love

It's about time I get back to my day by day challenges :) Todays' is My Definition of Love!

Hmmm. This is a tough question for me because there are so many different kinds of love in my opinion. For example:

I love my baths, but not the way that I love my Family.
I love my friends, but not in the same way that I love chocolate.
I love shoes, but not in the same way that I love high heels!
And so on....

But as I was thinking about this, I got on Urban-dictionary just to see the different definitions of love. There was one sentence on there that stood out to me. It reads:

"Love can make you do anything and sacrifice for what will be better in the end."

I think that applies to all of those different types of love.

This summer has made me realize a lot of those loves.
#1- My family. Sometimes seeing things from another view, makes me realize so much more. I had a really hard time leaving Utah this summer. I went to dinner with My parents and brother, and I bawled the whole way from Salt Lake to Provo. I was so sad to be leaving them. (But I was happy to see the rest of my family!) Anyway, it was hard for me. I sure love my family so much! Even when they come to visit, I get teary when they leave. I realize how close I am to them and I literally get anxious to see them again :)

#2- A mothers love. Really, this started when I moved to college. My mom can be MILES away, and still be so involved and worried about me. I was sick while here in Colorado, and she talked to a doctor FOR me, and called in medicine FOR me, and constantly was calling to check in on me. I don't know how I'd survive without her! It's like she's right here with me and I love it! She's always there no matter where I am!
Also, living with Brooke has totally opened my eyes to a mothers love as well. These little boys are so attached to their Mommy and adore her. It's amazing what a mother (and a father) do for their kids. You can't tell me that isn't an amazing love!! I love my nephews so much. I honestly can't imagine having kids of my own because it's hard to imagine loving kids any more than I love these two little boys!

#3- The Gospel. One thing I've learned in the past several years, is that life changes, and life changes a LOT. But the Gospel never does. No matter what is going on in your life, no matter what challenges and trials you are going through, no matter where you live or where you work, the Gospel NEVER changes. It's the one constant in your life and the peace that comes with that is unbelievable! I can't imagine going through this time of my life with so many changes and new experiences without the Gospel.
You can't speak of the Savior without the word Love coming to mind. There is no greater Love than that! :)

Love, me!

The Best Day Ever!

So..... to the greatest day ever: The Baseball game :)

Miguel Cabrera (that favorite player of mine I mentioned in the earlier post) plays for the Detroit Tigers and they were playing in Denver the weekend after my birthday. So my parents gave me tickets!! My parents came to Grand Junction that weekend and my mom and I headed to Denver Saturday morning. We got there around 11:30 and picked up Blake at the airport. He flew in to go to the game with us :)

Then we had time to kill before the game so we went and ate at our favorite Denver diner, and went to my favorite Mall in Denver! Then, we got to the ballpark, and were one of the first ones in the gate!

We went straight over to the Tigers dugout to try and get Cabrera's autograph. Blake had little hopes and figured we would not be able to get his autograph so he was a little more focused on the other players. I however, never took my eye off Cabrera. SERIOUSLY! I'm not exaggerating at all. Cabrera came near us and I yelled to him and pointed to my shirt I was wearing (Which was the one Blake gave me) and he laughed and waved. Then he went back to batting practice. Later he came back over a couple of times in which all times I continued to watch and wave and yell. He continued to laugh. Then he went in the dugout for a while. You couldn't really see into the dugout from where I was standing, unless you crouched down awkwardly and peeked in JUST enough to see half of his head. So that I did! And he saw me and laughed and waved once again. A few minutes later he came out of the dugout, looked over at me, and held up his hand for me to throw him a ball. I threw him my ball, threw him my pen, and JUMPED for joy! He signed my ball, then signed Blake's and a few others. Then he threw my pen back and signed for me to call him. HAHA! He put his hand up to his ear and mouthed "Call me" and laughed. It was the best ever!

I was seriously the happiest girl in the world. I GOT HIS AUTOGRAPH! AND he waved at me, AND I was the first ball he signed. He was so nice too. He was the only one on his team that signed Autographs and he even tried to get others on his team to sign balls. He was just so happy and fun. I love him even more now!!

The game was a blast, even though the Tigers lost. I love ballgames and it was so fun to go with the other two baseball fanatics (Blake and my mom) and have a good time with them. It was such a great day. I get butterflies just thinking about it! No joke :)

Here are some pictures of it!!

Our favorite Denver Diner! Mmm!

My favorite Mall :)

And there he is! :)

My mom captured this great picture. Cabrera is throwing back my signed ball to me. You can even see the ball in the picture. How awesome is that?!

This was actually before he signed my ball. But Cabrera is in the background in batting practice!

Blake and I with our signed balls. He was pretty excited about it to I must say. He yelled to Cabrera: "Hey, that is my little sister. You gotta sign mine too. She can't out-do me!" haha!

We had such a good time. I sure love going to baseball games with them! They are such fanatics. My mom could tell you anything about baseball as well as Blake. It's so fun to share that love of baseball with them!

Thanks to my mom and dad for the tickets!! And thanks to Blake and my mom for such a wonderful day that I will NEVER forget!
=)

The start to the best day ever!

Ok so pretty much this year was by best Birthday ever. It started out on the actual day of my birthday great. My Birthday was on June 12 and I woke up to this on my bed:

I have wanted a keyboard to take to college with me so that I can continue the piano. I'm at that point in paino where I am ok, but I lose everything I know because I can't practice much. So my sister gave me this! :) I was so excited!!

Then I went downstairs and opened a package from my brother who gave me this:

This is a shirt with Miguel Cabrera on it. Miguel Cabrera has been my favorite baseball player since his first year of Major League! I LOVE this player!! I had seen this shirt on the internet and wanted it. Blake said it only comes in a mens medium, but I still wanted it SO bad! And he got it for me :)

THEN... My parents present came......
Drumroll....

ROCKIES vs. TIGERS GAME!!!

YES.......Best day ever! That post to come :)

Summer Fun

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, it feels like every weekend we have had something fun going on. I moved out here one weekend. The next weekend was Memorial Day weekend and my family came out and we all went to Glenwood Springs. SO FUN. The bad news is that I was sick that weekend. I woke up Thursday morning with a fever and headache. The fever went away and the headache turned to a migrane and that didn't leave all weekend. BUT I was determined to not let it ruin my weekend because we had so many fun things planned. And boy am I glad I did!

We got there Friday afternoon and went to the hot springs. These were great, just like any springs. Nothing TOO exciting but always a good time.

The Highlight of the trip for me was Saturday when we went to the Adventure Park. Once you're in Glenwood springs, you can take a little gondolla up to the top of a mountain. From the town, you would never know that this is there! It's amazing. At the top there is a zip line, bungee jumping, games, a alpine slide type roller coaster, and so on. But the craziest thing would have to be the swing. They added a new swing that swings you over a CANYON. You are literally looking straight down a canyon. It is insane!! I'll post a picture. I can't believe I did it. What was I thinking?! haha. Plus I get motion-sick as it is. Let alone BEING sick already.....lets just say I didn't feel so swell afterwards! So worth it though.
Sunday we went on a hike to Hanging Lake. It's quite a hike, but once you get to the top it is gorgeous! Who knew there was a lake like this with these incredible waterfalls at the top of this mountain? What a pretty world!
Anyway, needless to say, this was a wonderful weekend vacation and I loved every minute of it!

The crazy swing!!

Just a cute little chair :)

Hanging Lake!

The other BIG event I will post next. It deserves it's own post because it was one of the best days of my life. haha and I'm not even joking :)

So other than that, I've just done fun things here and there. I don't really know anybody here in Grand Junction but my friend Calvin. Through Calvin I briefly knew another boy in the ward, Travis. We were friends but never really hung out or anything. Just knew each other. Well he got home from his mission and had a week before he was heading to school. So he was super nice and took me on a hike and for ice-cream and it was so fun to have someone my age around to do that stuff with!

Colorado really has such pretty hikes and places to go see. I'm no "big hiker" but I love to go explore new scenes and pretty views!

I love summer time!! Just all the different things you do. It's a total different feel than the whole rest of the year. It's the greatest!

More Summer Fun to come :)

Love, me.

Quick Update....

Ok so I thought once I moved out here to Colorado I'd be even better at this blogging business. Wrong. I am still terrible. But I started looking at others blogs and realized that most people haven't blogged much this summer. I guess it's a summer thing and there's just too much to do other than blog! That's a good thing :)

SO... Quick update. I'm in Colorado! I have been for a month now, and like I figured, I am loving it.

First: I am working in Aaron's office and it's been so great. I have the best brother in law to let me do this! I work in the front AND he's been hands on training me as an assistant. I really love assisting. It's so fun to be hands on and in that field. I'm really enjoying it!
Second: My nephews are the best. Seriously they are the funniest boys in the world! They are constantly making me laugh. Hunter is six and at the age of a totally random/funny imagination. Paxton is two and at the age of learning to talk and repeating what others say. So put the two together.....and it's quite hilarious! Some day I will make a post on the funny things that are said! But for today, this is a quick update so that next post I can get back to my "DAY Challenges" that I have failed so badly at! Anyway...
Third: It's summer and what's not to love? I work, and then play with the nephews and call it a day. Weekends have been the best. We seem to always be doing something (BASEBALL pictures to be posted very soon for the best weekend EVER....) And camping, and glenwood springs....wow. So much to update on. But that's what summer is for. I love it!

Things are settled and good for now! I'll post more later. Just don't get your hopes up since it MAY not be that soon. Shocker.

=)
