Dance Moments

Ok, So if you didn't already know from my previous posts, I am majoring in the Dance program at Utah Valley University.
I. AM. LOVING. IT.

The dance program was a lot different than I had expected. It's a lot harder academically and physically. Mondays and Wednesdays I am there from 8-5 and it is physically exhausting. (Thanks to my conditioning class...)

But I am enjoying it so much. One thing I have loved even more, is the friends I am making. The girls are so much fun and we have such a good time together. For all of my dance classes, we have to go see at least 2 professional dance shows. That means I'm going to be seeing a lot. And that's ok :) A couple of us got together and went to the Ririe Woodbury show in SLC. It was.....interesting. It was amazing, but very interesting. It was fun to actually get dressed up and see each other looking like girls :) We had a great time!

Ok so here comes the story of all stories, and my favorite day/week ever!
So my Technique class is an every day class and we switch between two awesome teachers. Stevi, and Doris. Well for two days, our big dance studio was being used for another class, so we got moved to a smaller studio. However, being the biggest class, our teachers were not super stoked about that. SO... both teachers decided we'd do something a little different.

Stevi decided we would meet, and all go to breakfast. He said "Don't wear your dance clothes. Dress up! I want to see what you actually look like outside of dance class!" So that we did. We all "fancied" up and went to breakfast! So fun.

Doris decided we would do an exercise that she had done her freshman year of school. It turned out to be the funnest day ever! We've been learning several small exercises for warm up, feet, plie, center, traveling, and so on.....
Well, with these certain exercises, we were to get in small groups, and go perform 4 of these exercises in random places around the school. Inside, and out. If you know what flashmob dances are......that's kind of how we felt! It was hilarious!
SO.... The first one we did outside on a hill. There were windows right at the bottom of the hill where people were inside. People's reaction were hilarious, and one kid was even recording us! He probably thought we were crazy...

The next one we did was inside on the stairs. This one was tricky being on a small, little space, and there weren't quite as many people. But the ones that did see us, couldn't help but stare.

The third one we danced in a random hallway. There were only about 5 or 6 people in this hallway with a random person walking by once in a while. This one was fun just because we were dancing in a school hallway........ and how often do we do that?....... Ya, never.

The last one was BY FAR the best. And the one we didn't get a picture of. Doris has us do this warm up that is very strange. We walk. We just walk. And we walk in random ways, forward, backwards, sideways, whatever. When we feel like stopping, we stop and stretch in a random pose. When someone sees you doing so, they will come next to you, grab onto you somehow, and stretch with you. After a minute of doing this, you roll to the ground, stand up, and continue walking to start over. There's obviously good reason to do this, but just watching...... looks pretty funny!!
We decided to do this one in one of the busiest hallways at the school. There were so many people watching. Some with confused looks, and some were holding back smiles. Some would bury their head in a book and try not to watch, and some were literally full on laughing out loud. It was hilarious! I wasn't very good at it, but one girl in my class ROCKED at keeping a straight face, and I can't even tell you how funny it was.

Afterwards we had to take some random pictures because that's just what girls do :) It was SO fun doing this and getting to know the girls in my major that much better. We had so much fun together! Here's some random shots!

Basically, going back to normal technique class today was a real bummer. But this was sure a blast. No matter WHO saw us and thought we were nuts. :)

DAY 10

DAY 10- What You Wore Today

This is another one of my day to day challenges that I think is kinda lame...
Does anyone really care what I wore today? Probably not. But I decided this could turn into a fun post later on. Let me explain.

Today is Thursday. That means that I go to class. It's my only class of the day and it is my Modern Technique & Theory class. After class I usually do some choreography, and homework. Then around 3:00 , I go to work where I teach dance. After teaching I have started going to a hip hop club at school.

So as you can see....... I'm in dance clothes all day. My dance clothes consist of a tank top/T-shirt and shorts. No shoes because it's modern, and that's about it. My hair goes up in a messy pony tail or bun with a headband. Pretty much I DON'T get ready on Thursdays. Or any day for that matter...

But I like it that way :) On a more exciting note...... read my next post :)

PRIVATE!

GOING PRIVATE!!!

I'm sick of getting random posts and advertisements. Plus, it's a scary world SO............. I'm going private. I'll give it a few days, but if you want an invite to view it, let me know! Leave a comment, text me, facebook me, anything :)

DAY 09

DAY 09- YOUR BELIEFS

I decided that I would do one of my Day Challenges today, and I couldn't have been happier when I saw that today's was "My Beliefs".

As I thought about what to say, SO much fills my mind. I decided just to share this link first of all. My friend challenged me to create a profile on here, and I am so glad I did. It's so good to actually sit down, focus, and think about your testimony. How often do we really do that? So.... here is my profile :)

I don't know what I'd do without the Gospel in my life, and really, I don't want to even think about it!!
Since I moved back down to Provo, I made a goal with myself to go to the temple every week. It has been the best goal I've ever made :) Usually I go on Tuesdays, and my roommates decided we'd make it "Temple Tuesday".
Well, the other week, we had come back from Labor Day long weekend and forgot about our early morning goal of going to the temple. I was driving to school and just kept thinking about it! Then, all through my class I continued to think about it, and I decided I had better go when I was done with class that day.
This was the first time I had gone to the temple because I felt promptedto do so, and it was the best experience I've had in the temple thus far. The spirit is an amazing thing and I am so grateful for it!

Speaking of Temples...... I LOVE the Brigham temple :) I saw it this weekend once again when I went home, and it just gets better and better!

This is what it looks like Now..... a few windows and no inside...

This is a picture of what it is going to look like all finished. Pretty close, eh?? :)

Temples are amazing, and I can't wait to be able to go through it all one day, and to be married and sealed there one day!

We are so lucky :)

Back to Life..

I'm back to reality. Back to school, living on my own, finding jobs, roommates, and so on. Which isn't necessarily bad.......but I sure miss Colorado!
I miss having a great job (and a great boss for that matter)
I miss hanging out with my sis everyday
I miss Colorado in itself.
I miss my nephews :(
And I miss the funny things they would say and do! For example:

Hunter: "You bad sock! YOU, are going in the laundry today!"
Hunter: "It brewk! (broke)
Hunter: "Mom what are they called?" "Pot guts" "Oh yeah, pot ducks!"
Hunter: "It's 82 degrees in here? What's the deal with that?!"
Hunter: "Pax, if you play with that I'm not being your big brother forever!"
Hunter: " What the..?" Paxton: "HECK"
Paxton: "Ann!" (He calls me Ann)

Hunter: "We have no food, we have no jobs, our heads pets are falling off!"
Hunter on my birthday: "It's time for the secret! The ck......... C-A-C..... (cake)
Hunter: "Im on facebook??!! AH! I thought facebook was for girls!!!
Hunter as he's holding my purse on his shoulder: "Oh, looks like I'm off to work!"
Hunter taking medicine for allergies: "I feel like a druggie!" (where in the world...?)
Hunter: "Mom, pax said sepboy!!" Brooke and I: "What?" "Sepboy!!" Us: "What is sepboy??

Hunter: "You know.... the sandwhich place....." Brooke: "hahaha you mean SUBWAY?"
Paxton: "Eann!" (He now calls me Eann)
Hunter: "Don'tcha wish your girlfriend was" Paxton: "Hot like me"
Hunter: "I am NOT having a piece of fruit till i'm 18!!"
Paxton says yes I do after everything. Example. Paxton, do you want milk? "Yes I do." Paxton, are you hot? "Yes I do." haha!
Hunter: "I'm not watching fed ex on that TV!" Aaron and I thinking of what fed ex is.... Aaron: "You mean Net Flix??"
Hunte after seeing a car like Brooke and Aarons on the road: "Wait a minute!!! Did someone steal our car???" (As we are IN our car....)
Hunter: "The handle brewked!" Brooke "Hunter, it's BROKE" Hunter: "Fine! It braked!"

One of my favorite all-time memories was when we took cookies to new members in the ward. Hunter insisted on carrying the plate of cookies up to the door, so Brooke agreed and said "BE CAREFUL!" Well, sure enough, the wind came up and took half the plate of cookies to the ground. As we frantically are cleaning up the mess, Hunter goes ahead and rings the doorbell. We barely get the mess cleaned up (and there's still a bit of crumbs on the cement) by the time they open the door. I then look over at Paxton and he has one of the cookies (from the ground) IN his mouth. Haha. It was the classic moment of a family with little boys! If only you could have witnessed this in real life.....because it was hilarious.....

.................And ther's SO much more to remember!............. I sure miss them!

And now I'm back to Provo.
I am really liking it here though, so I can't complain TOO much. I really love my roommates. I am living with Kati Nielson and Tayler Ames and I love it. The fourth girl (Bless her heart for being the only non- Brighamite) is Deba and she is great as well. They are such good girls and I love them so much! It's been so fun, and even letting me be the 3rd wheel all the time :) But as Reagan (Kati's boyfriend) tells me: "Sometimes the funnest bikes are 3 wheelers!" haha....!

School is great and it's sure getting me busy again. I am in the dance program and loving it. I dance an awful lot, and still have a few classes where it's book work but learning ABOUT dance, and I absolutely love them all. Ok.... that's a lie. I'm not a huge fan of my studies in ballroom, and I hate my conditioning class because I hate running. BUT...... even then, they aren't THAT bad. I'll take em :)

I also got a small part-time job teaching at a dance studio called Heart n' Soul dance. I have only taught twice, but I am liking it so far, and we'll see where it takes me. I still am looking for another little part-time something.... but that will happen sooner or later.

Things are good :) Now back to homework........ ugh...

Love, me!
